Punching holes

Today in history is remembered for a machine that is not so much remembered but is of great importance as we can not do almost any paperwork without it.

It's the "hole punch machine" that comman device used to punch holes in paper sheets.

The origins of the hole punch date back to Germany via Matthias Theel, where two early patents for a device designed to "punch holes in paper" have since been discovered. Friedrich Soennecken filed his patent on 14 November, 1886, for his Papierlocher für Sammelmappen.
